Border Guards Find Dead Eritrean on Border With Latvia

The State Border Committee has reported another migrant death on the Belarus–Latvia border.

According to the Committee, on Tuesday, October 21, border guards in the Braslaw district found three Eritrean nationals, one of whom was dead.

Border guards provided first aid to the two surviving Eritreans, called for medical assistance, and notified an investigative team.

According to the Investigative Committee, the men had been detained in Latvia, beaten, and then expelled back into Belarus.

The Braslaw District Department of the Investigative Committee is conducting an inquiry.

According to the State Border Committee, since the start of the migration crisis, 35 deaths have been recorded on the Belarus–Latvia border.
